New religious violence in Nigeria

Several Christians were killed in an attack by Muslims on a town outside the city of Jos, in central Nigeria, where religious conflicts have flared frequently in recent months.
Residents of the town of Dabwak reported that 5 people—all members of the same family—had been killed by gunmen in a pre-dawn raid. Nigerian officials put the death toll at 4.
Jos is located in the Plateau state, which lies between the Muslim north and the Christian south of Nigeria. Ethnic and religious conflict has become common in the region; a series of bombings around Christmas time were the most serious incidents in the past year.
